What's the fuss about Mother's Day ?

I simply don't understand what's the great fuss about Mother's Day. Everyday I love my mummy; everyday I make my mummy angry - does that make my mummy love me less?
What I don't understand is mummy was so happy and almost teared when I sang her this song :
