My name

Ever wonder why my parents gave me this name Athena? Story goes like this, mom was in Athens in 1996 and went to Acropolis - a temple dedicated to the Goddess Athena. And she decided to name her future daughter (if she had one) ATHENA because it has good meaning and it's a unique name.

ATHENA
Gender: Feminine Usage: Greek Mythology Other Scripts: Αθηνη, Αθηνα (Greek)
Athena was the Greek goddess of wisdom and warfare, the daughter of Zeus and the patron goddess of the city of Athens in Greece. She is associated with the olive tree and the owl.
It took her a long time to convince daddy to use this name. Yes, I was almost called Celine, Elizabeth and whatever christian names found in the bible. Daddy was finally convinced when mummy showed him the fifth time the meaning of this name. At 4 or 5 months in mummy's tummy I finally had a name. And I heard my name again when I first opened my eyes and see this stranger (daddy) carrying me.
Mummy said she'll bring me back to Athens to find the root of my name one day. This is so interesting it's as if my ancestors' are Greeks.

35 month old

I turned 35 months old 3 days ago, and 25th next month I'll be 3.

Mummy got this from BabyCentre on 35 months olds

In the coming months your child will start showing more interest in the differences between girls and boys. If you catch him in the midst of playing doctor with the little girl next door, try not to react with shock or embarrassment. Just tell the children that penises and vaginas are kept private and steer them towards another activity. They'll probably be relieved, since some experts say small children already have some sense that peeking under each other's clothes is taboo.

Just today mummy asked me to pee in the shower area and I wanted to stand up. She said " are you a boy or girl. Boys pee standing up, girls squat. Squat down." And I answered her "I'm a boy". And my fond name for my private part is 'ku ku pok'.

Innocent child

Mummy brought me to the doctor today. And when mummy told me " doctor said you must put cream" when we got home, I obediently pulled up my shirt for her and said "doctor say A-Ni-Nah (Athena) cannot put powder". Mummy replied "when did the doctor say this?" and bursts out laughing.
Why? Did he or did he not say that? Or was I just adding words.
Yesterday when I was in Cold Storage with ye-ye and ma-ma, they picked up some cabbage and I told em' " bu yao cai, bu yao mai cai." They also laughed at me. You mean the cabbage is not for me??

I'm back!

I'm finally back in the comfort of my bed and Pang-gol (Punggol). I'm itching all over my body, mummy said "see! you didn't want me to put on cream for you." Then in the morning she slapped her orange hydrating mask on my body to hydrate my skin but.... it's making it even more itchy. I rushed into the toilet and splashed some water on my arms. Mummy's afraid of my getting bronchitis again so during the whole trip she's been giving me Ventolin besides Flixotide. And she continued doing that once we're back in hot Singapore.
Weather was great! We were lucky to have good weather following us; bringing the sun wherever we go. When we left New York, it was raining. So lucky!
Mummy is a little disappointed because the video camera was okay one minute and then spoilt and it goes on... So the final product we have?? Beginning, a little of middle part and ending. I want to tell her the video camera is almost the same age as I am... it should be spoilt by now since it has been following us to all the cold countries and condensation and what nots. But lucky we still have our trusty digital camera so mummy took no chances and took more photos.
I haven't been eating much during the trip. I think I've lost one pound?? My ever panicky mummy says " it's time to fatten you up once in Singapore. Bring you go holiday is like bringing you out on a diet."

Yippee, I am going on an aeroplane tomorrow morning. I can't wait....but it's going to be a long flight. Mummy said it's easy to bring me on a holiday now coz' I can skip school when I'm still in Nursery, but when I'm in Kindergarten she would not want to let me skip school.
She's got my puzzles; colouring book to entertain me on board.

Fever

Skipped school today as I had fever in the morning. Mummy panicked saying "this is not the time for you to fall sick, we're flying off soon." Can see mummy is trying to make me feel better.
I dunno what's the fuss about, anyway I like to skip school and go gai-gai with mummy.
Mummy decided to let me play my balls during my bathtime. I put some balls into my shirt. See how "big" I am. I helped mummy put back the balls after playing (mummy is so pleased with me)

" Mummy, my eye nice nice no more." Hearing that, mummy decided to put on brown eye shadow; blusher and a tint of brown colour on my lips. I am so pretty....
I went to school with my make up on.

Why, Why, Why??

I don’t understand mummy. All I wanted to do was to show her this towel rod and said “cane”. I hit mummy with it. I don’t understand why mummy got so cross with me and said " you shouldn't beat mummy", afterall she did use the cane to beat me.When mummy asked me to help her put my clothes nicely on the pole (to hang it up), I pulled all the clothes to one side. Mummy said “you only made me more busy.” I want to tell her “mummy, I am only a child…”

Weekend

Photo taken with my make up. Can you see the purple eye shadow??
Mummy and daddy brought me to Orchard, mummy needed to change this denim jeans and jacket she bought for me from Guess Kids a few days ago. I hated it, so mummy said she'd better bring me down to choose what I want and make an exchange.
When we got there, I was more interested in the Sesame Street kiddy ride. Daddy chased after me and cornered me into a fitting room. I was smart and ran out from the other side. I am not interested in choosing clothes, all I wanted was to ask mummy $1 for the ride.
In the end, she got me this halter red top, shorts and socks for 6 yr-old. Hoping by then I will be more obedient and wear. We shall see...................
Mummy had to pop by Sasa to get some things. Daddy looked after me. After mummy made her purchase and walked towards me, she screamed " what happened to her face." Daddy proudly told her "she did the make up herself. She wanted to put the lipstick on but I stopped her." To which mummy said "no make up is complete without a lipstick". Having said that, she brought out her lip brush and gave my thick lips a tint of colour. I was so happy coz mummy said " hey, she did a good job with her face. Not bad she can put make up." And she brought me to the mirror. I smiled at myself; pouting my lips.

When we got home, mummy grabbed the chance to take a photo of me. Unfortunately, the make up cannot be seen.

Let's drive a car

I was playing with all my teddies - Andrea, small tatty bear, Polar bear, another big brown nameless bear and a bald baby in the afternoon. I was ordering them around to sit in my car and they were all behind me.
Mom says I'm talking alot to myself. Infact, I have been talking to myself alot recently. I can be " talking and playing" with my schoolmates or my teddies.
This might be interesting, mom got this from Baby Centre which updates her on my month by month development.
Excerpts from the article :
As children get older, they take more interest in socialising. Your child is probably beginning to think of her playmates as friends, and she's learning that small kindnesses — like sharing and giving — are part of friendship. Imaginative play also takes off. Many children, especially those without siblings, create imaginary playmates between 2 1/2 and 3 years of age. They can provide solace and take responsibility for the things your child wishes she hadn't done. But most lose interest in their imaginary friends by age 6.
How your life's changing: Everyone talks about the twos being terrible, but they fail to see how much 2-year-olds love helping around the house! They want to be part of the world around them and they love and admire you. Your little one may want to help you set the table, fold the laundry or pick up toys — and now is your chance to get some eager help while
encouraging good habits. Don't forget to reward her with big appreciative hugs and kisses.
Indeed I love to help around the house. It makes me happy and I'll start smiling and feel so proud of myself. I like to clean the table whenever I have my meals, to which mummy and daddy said " You can be a cleaner next time." Geez.. I just hope I won't be an impulsive clean person. Perhaps I take after my parents.

HAPPY CHILDREN'S DAY!!!

To all the children in Singapore - HAPPY CHILDREN'S DAY!

The child-care centre celebrated Children's Day yesterday. All the little children were given gifts. I have another Power Puff schoolbag to add on to my schoolbags collection.

We played games. In my team we had to hold a ball and run. Yes, my team won. Grandmother who was there at that time, said I look funny with my fat butt sticking out and running.

Talking about butts. My aunties likes to bite my butts, mom likes to tickle my butts.
