Gai-gai

Daddy brought me out gai-gai, to a very crowded place. And there are alot of free foods to eat there...................it's the Food & Beverage Fair 2007 at Suntec! I was offered a variety of foods by so many aunties. Daddy & mummy decided to sit down to have lunch, but I was a little full. Anyway, I'm tired from all the walking so I might as well sit down.

After that we walked around the big shopping mall. I was so happy that I kept running and running in the mall; asking daddy & mummy to race with me. Mummy bought me a bubble gun - so that she won't have to tire herself out from blowing bubbles. I can't wait to play that.

We didn't spent long hours there, as mummy & daddy were tired. I wonder if daddy will bring me out next week?
My mee-mee is very hot mummy...

This is how you chew your food
Me first, me first!

I DID IT !!

16th March
I finally did it! I finally did it!

It took me so long to earn this easel, partly because mummy said this is very expensive so I must earn alot of stickers for this. Oh yes, when I finally finished the last sticker, I put on my apron...... but mummy say I can paint tomorrow once she gets my easel. Sigh... but its okay. I'm very tired today coz I haven't napped at all. I went shopping with mummy today, a 3+ hrs outing but left mummy extremly poor from buying things for me & mei-mei.

From ELC, she got me my easel and she even bought me non-spill containers to put paints inside. But no paints coz' she says we still have alot at home....oh yes... I remember we still have those finger paints.

Stopping at Delifrance for lunch before popping by at Ngee Ann City
At home, mummy only have the time to fix it up in the evening. She was perspiring and said her hands are tired. I was a good girl and gave her a massage.
Finally..................
My easel! My easel!
17th March
This morning, mummy asked me if I wanted to do painting today. Immediately I said yes. But the catch is... I can only paint after I have my shower & lunch. Okay, not difficult, I can wait.
My first piece. Was suppose to be our family, but not enough space. And I ended up drawing more rubbish inside - so it became abstract art
Mummy asked why I didn't draw her in the 1st pic so I did one solo piece of her. But she complaint she's so ugly. Mummy's so fussy!!

Z is for ZOO

Mummy brought me, mei-mei, Aunty Zet and ma-ma to the Zoo today. I like it when there are so many adults going with me - so that they can serve me, but mummy have to make me wear a long sleeve - say what mosquitoes will come and bite me. She put some cream on my exposed skin then we went in. Thank you mummy, she brought my umbrella and portable fan along - I was about to complain hot when she passed them to me.

The first thing we saw was the orang utan. The orang utan so naughty one, he climb up the tree then he shake shake the tree - didn't want another one to come up. At first I wanted to take photo with the orang utan, but then I'm afraid that it will bite and scratch me.
Orang Utans

Orang-utans live on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra in South-east Asia and are the only great apes found outside Africa. The populations on the two islands have been separate for more than a million years, and scientists now consider them as distinct sub-species: the Sumatran orang-utan and the Bornean orang-utan.
Orang-utans spend most of their time in the treetops of the rainforests - in fact the name orang-utan means "person of the forest". They pass from tree to tree by climbing or swinging. Their strong arms stretch out longer than their bodies (up to 2.1m across) and allow them to move about in the rainforest canopy with ease, or to hang from branches eating fruit and leaves. When climbing, orang-utans use all four limbs - their big toes are opposable (like a human's thumbs) so they can grip branches with their feet as well as their hands. On the ground, orang-utans can stand upright, but they walk on all fours.

They are active during the day, and at night the females and young males sleep in nests which they build in the trees each evening. Due to their heaviness, mature males often sleep on the forest floor.

Orang-utans usually live on their own. This is particularly the case with adult males, who only associate with others during mating, which happens throughout the year. Female orang-utans typically give birth to one baby, although twins are not unheard of. Mothers take great care of their young, who remain with them for up to six years. The average lifespan for an orang-utan is 30 years, and maturity is reached at seven to 10 years of age.

We saw otters too! Infact we saw many many animals but mummy didn't take photos of them. These are what mummy took.

Then we walked towards the Tiger enclosure. One ye-ye had to block us on our way down the trek. But soon I saw the tiger. He's very beautiful. The daddy tiger very funny one, keep walking here and there. I told mummy & she asked me how I knew it was a daddy tiger. I say because it's big and the two lazy ones are mummy and me. Mummy asked about mei-mei, I say she's still "in her stomach."

Daddy tiger

White Tigers are magnificent creatures that possess an amazing combination of spectacular beauty and impressing power. Bengal tigers, as they are sometimes called, have blue eyes, pink nose, and creamy white fur covered with stripes of a chocolate color.

White tiger males range in length between 8.8 and 10.2 feet. They weigh between 419 and 569 pounds on the average. Females are smaller, and range in length from 7.11 to 8.7 feet, weighing around 350 pounds.

White tigers are very rare animals. They are seen only in zoos nowadays. These animals are sometimes mistakenly considered to be an albino species of tiger. However, it is not true to fact. White tigers occur when both tigers that mate carry the gene for white coloring. A White tiger's tail reaches the length of 3 to 4 feet.

HABITAT
White tigers tend to inhabit the area from about 10 to 30 square miles where there is enough prey and water to support them. Their habitats are located on the Mainland of Southeastern Asia and in central and southern India. These animals live in grassy areas and forests, which provide them with shelter.

On our way to see the pygmy hippo, we saw these funny-looking fishes.

We were lucky that they were feeding the hippos when we were there. I also want to eat..Pygmy hippos were once my favorite but now I don't like them anymore. So ugly!
Aunty Zet and me

The name hippopotamus comes from Greek and means “river horse.” Hippos, however, are not related to horses, but to pigs.
Although hippos once ranged through Europe and Asia, they are now found only in the African interior and on game reserves. The pygmy hippo, which is the smallest species, occurs in West Africa, especially in or near rivers, lakes, and swamps.
The common male hippo weighs up to 2,600 kg, but the pygmy hippo weighs only about 161-272 kg.
Common hippos are gregarious, live in herds, and are well adapted to life in the water. By contrast, the pygmy hippo is a shy, solitary, forest dweller that is still hunted by the natives for its meat. When encountering people, it flees at once into the nearest river or swamp. Their life span is about 35 years, and they have adapted well to life in zoological gardens, a hopeful sign, as they are threatened with extinction in their natural habitat. The major threats to this species are deforestation and hunting.

As we left, mummy was telling me "next time when you're older, you have to bring notepads and take down information." I wish I will be a young child forever.

We then went to see hamadyras baboons. I remember mummy showing me a picture of this and some other funny-looking (long nose) monkey and asked me to tell her when I see them. I told mummy about this and she was pleased.
I tell you hor.........my mad mummy had the animals photos printed out on a paper and is to make a booklet for me to bring it out whenever we go to the Zoo - but she was so tired, so she left it aside first. Heng ah..........
For a token $2, you can feed the hamadryas baboons.

I tell you why their backside is so red red - because they never clean after they pang-sai (poo). I remember mei-mei have red red patch (nappy rash) and mummy put cream cream for her. You think the cream will help them?

DESCRIPTION
Hamadryas baboons have a fluffy coat. Females and young baboons are brown, while adult males have a silver hair on their shoulders and back. Their faces and rump have pink skin with no hair.

Grass seeds, root, and bulbs make up the diet of the Hamadryas baboon.

The Hamadryas baboon lives in Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, Somalia and Yemen. It prefers the rocky desert areas and the subdesert regions that have grass.

Leopards are the main predator of this baboon.

The Hamadryas baboon has a complex social structure. A male will dominate up to 10 females at a time. This family is a close-knit group, interacting with each other far more frequently than with baboons from other families. Several families form a clan; several clans form a band; several bands form a troop. Males will forcefully steal females from other bands, but will not steal from their own family. Instead, they very gradually win over a juvenile female without confrontation. Young males inherit females from their father. Thus the father's social status is passed on to his sons. Females are much smaller than males, so they are not as forceful. However, if a female does not favor her male, she will have a much higher chance of being "stolen" from her male.

I've seen kangaroos before so was not at all interested here. I want to see my polar bear!
A male kangaroo is called a buck
A female kangaroo is called a doe
A baby kangaroo is called a joey
Kangaroos are the largest marsupial mammals. They belong to the Macropodidae family.

Kangaroo moves by hopping on its hind legs using its tail for steering and balancing while hopping at speed up to 40mph/60kmh. When kangaroo is moving slowly the tail is used as an extra leg and supports the kangaroo when it is standing on its hind legs. Most kangaroos can only move both back legs together and not one at a time.

Kangaroos are found in Australia, Tasmania, and New Guinea. They are grazing animals that eat grass, young shoots and leaves of heath plants and grass trees. Kangaroos need very little water to survive and are capable of going for months without drinking at all.

Yay... finally I get to see my good friend. He loves to swim so much, isn't he such a graceful swimmer?

Me & ma-ma
DESCRIPTION:
The polar bear rivals the Kodiak bear as the largest four-footed carnivore on Earth and can live up to 25 years. Although the polar bear's coat appears white, each individual hair is actually a clear hollow tube that channels the sun's energy directly to the bear's skin and helps it stay warm. The polar bear's entire body is furred, even the bottom of its paws. That helps prevent bears from slipping on the ice. The polar bear is classified as a marine mammal. Its feet are partially webbed for swimming, and its fur is water-repellent. A formidable predator, it has extremely sharp claws.

SIZE:
Males are 8 to 11 feet long and weigh 500 to 1,100 pounds but can reach as much as 1,500 pounds. Females are smaller, measuring 6 to 8 feet long, and weigh from 350 to 600 pounds, occasionally reaching 700 pounds.

HABITAT:
The entire circumpolar Arctic region is polar bear habitat. They are equally comfortable in the water and on land. Polar bears can be found on pack ice, coastal islands, coastlines and even out in Arctic waters. They are exceptional swimmers and have been observed in the sea more than 100 miles from the nearest land or pack ice.

FOOD:
Polar bears are strictly carnivores and feed or scavenge only meat. Their primary prey is the ringed seal though they also take bearded, harp and hooded seals and the occasional walrus youngster. They will also scavenge walrus and whale carcasses. That sometimes results in temporary aggregations of polar bears at such sites. Other species, such as the Arctic fox, rely entirely upon "polar bear left-overs" after the bears have eaten their fill of seal skin and blubber, leaving the remaining meat for such scavengers.

We went to see White Rhino. There were so many rhinos there and it's so smelly + extremely hot. My stupid mother lor.... made me wear long sleeve.
Two of them almost started a fight. I was so scared I ran away and ran towards mummy.
Ma-ma

See the baby rhino? Was born on 19th Feb 07, exactly after 5 mths mei-mei was born. The baby rhino is so cute... can run. How come my mei-mei cannot run?
After that, we saw 3 giraffes. My mummy also very funny one- tell me to see giraffe and asked me if it has long or short neck; have stripes or spots. I decided to look at the map and then she say "look at the animals, not the map!" My mummy so stupid one leh.... of course I cannot see lah! The giraffe so tall, I'm so short! How to see? So I see the map lah?!?!
Umm... you mean they don't eat meat?

Mummy cannot tolerate the heat herself. We quickly went into the aircon shelter. Mei-mei also had her milk there. I saw one cow outside and told mummy..but she said it's not a cow; it's a gnu. Mummy didn't explain further, I think she also dunno what's that.

I tell ma-ma, we have to go that way after that, she say cannot.....

the cheetahs are outside waiting for us (food)

The word "Cheetah" is derived from the Hindi word "Chita" meaning "spotted one". The Cheetah is the fastest land animal reaching speeds of 45 - 70 mph. Cheetahs have also been known to swim, although they do not like to. The Cheetah is not one of the Great Cats, because it does not have a floating Hyoid bone in its neck it can not roar, therefore it is a Lesser Cat. Cheetahs have been considered through out history to be a sleek and beautiful cat.

APPEARANCE
The Cheetah is a tall and elegant cat in appearance. Large chest, narrow waist, long thin legs, and a slim well muscled build this animal was definitely made for speed. The Cheetahs coat varies from a tawny to golden tone covered in a pattern of solid black spots averaging .75"-1.5" in diameter. The Cheetahs beautiful pelt became more protected in 1970, when the fur trade regulations were strengthened. The fur is coarse to the touch not silky as it appears. The Cheetahs long thick tail has spots, which turn into rings and at the end is tipped with white. The throat and abdomen are a creamy white in color. The Cheetah has a small head with high set eyes and short rounded ears tipped with white on the back. The most well known characteristic is however the distinct black "tear mark", which runs from the inside corner of the eye down to the corner of the mouth.

SIZE
The Cheetah weighs an average of 83-145 lbs., making them about the same weight as that of a leopard. The length of a Cheetah is approximately 70"-86" from the tip of the nose to the end of the tail. Being an extremely tall cat the Cheetah stands at an average of 32" tall.

Newborn cubs weigh an average of 5.25-10.5 oz. The body length of a cub is approximately 11.8", which may vary.

We saw zebras, monkeys and more monkeys (how come they're so many monkeys?)

My idiot mummy had to bring me to this enclosure with all the butterflies flying around, and some small animals walking on the floor (next to me). I wanted to cry.. but I kept quiet. Mummy then asked us to open umbrella. I wonder why?? Is it going to rain? Now I have the umbrella to protect me. I feel a little safer. When we got out of the place, I scolded mummy.
We went to see a funny looking monkey (long nose). I was looking at it when this naughty monkey was playing with another; jumped down and hit the glass (where I was) I was shocked and stood further away after that. Then another monkey pee-ed while playing. Ai yoh.... not shy!

She later brought me to a Children's playground. Wah... they have waterplay, mummy said next time she'll bring extra clothes if we're coming here.
I played in the playground for about 15 minutes, sometimes mummy chase after me. So fun! I forgive mummy for bringing me to the scary place earlier on.

I am so tired now. It's already past my naptime, but I want to play.

We went to Children's World, where I first saw so many goats. I am a brave girl and told mummy I wanted to touch them. The fur is so.... dirty. But it's okay, mummy didn't stop me, she wanted me to touch them.

I had the chance to feed one goat, so I fed the smaller one - so that it won't bite me.

Why is it that they never call meh-meh huh?
I am so tired now.. these are what I saw at the Children's World. I even saw a squirrel!

Soon, it is time to go back home. I am really tired. But I'm lucky to have my stroller with me.

In the car, I dozed off almost immediately.

Thank you mummy for bringing me to the Zoo, but you have to promise you'd let me eat ice cream at Ben & Jerry's next time.

My first violin class

In the morning, mummy told me today is Tuesday. At first I didn't know what every Tuesdays will mean until I asked mummy if its my violin class. Immediately I am so happy, I listened to mummy today.
When I saw mummy getting ready to shower, I quickly took my clothes and changed it without her helping me.

Today, we learn Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. But we get to sing it as :
AAAA AA EEEE EE 1111 11 EEEE EE 3333 33 2222 22 1111 11 blah blah blah...

At the same time, we were thought to use our left to make the fingering for 3, 2, 1. On our right hand, we learnt to make a rabbit. Then we get to learn the different parts of the violin. I didn't have my violin then but I paid attention in the class. Then Teacher Low lent me an extra bow to see the parts of it.

After the class, we went to another place to buy my violin. I am so happy that I have my own violin now. I can't wait to show mei-mei and play her a song. Next time she can play the organ while I play the violin.
